The festival “Music in Old Cracow” will have its 44th edition this year. As usual, between the 15th and 31st of August, in historical venues of Cracow we will listen to the artists from all around the world, both Polish and foreign outstanding artists, e.g. such stars as Steven Isserlis, Pierre Hantai or the ensemble Chanticleer. They will present music of various epochs. The concert of the “Choir of the Monastery under the invocation of the 13 Saint Assyrian Fathers” from Georgia, singing in the ancient Aramaic language from the time of Jesus Christ is particularly promising. There will be many performances dedicated to the masterpieces of Johann Sebastian Bach, e.g. organ recital of the great master from Cracow, Andrzej Białko or the harpsichord creations by Pierre Hantai. Extremely interesting compositions of Ignacio de Jerusalem, who is almost unknown in Poland will be the content of the concert dedicated to the music of the “New Spain” from the present Mexico. Most of them will be a world premiere. The ensemble “Chanticleer”, already well known and admired in Cracow, doesn´t need any recommendation. This time, the music lovers will be happy to know, that the ensemble will give two concerts. We will hear their master performance of two programs in two different styles: a sacred music in the Franciscans´ Basilica “The Faith of our Fathers” and secular “Trade Winds” in the Tempel Synagogue. A concert of The Royal Rorantists will be dedicated to a very special Cracow tradition, back from 16th century. We will also have a chance to see the achievements of the ensemble of Polish musicians working in Vienna “Camerata Polonia” and the young talents conquering the stages and winning the prises in the prestigious contests.
